For the celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee money was raised for the York Minster Fund. 900 guests were invited to the York Minster Cathedral for dinner and entertainment. So why not have dinner in the green? The events top story was the installation of 1,500 square meters of REAL grass in the Cathedrals interior.
Wow! Grass! is the name of the company that installed the real grass at evens and locations. Roll it up&down like a natural red carpet…-)

Fish recycled: lovable Art!
June 21st, 2012 | Posted by in Arty Curiosities | Contemporary Art - (Comments Off)I love this installation that was just built at the beach of Rio de Janeiro:
A fish sculpture constructed from discarded plastic bottles rises out of the sand at Botafogo beach in Rio. Constructed on June 19th, 2012. The city is host to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, or Rio+20, which runs through June 22.
This is just amazing! Between fairy whorl and a great idea to use garbage in a recycled way…

I was definitely longing for sweets when I decided to write that little article yesterday night about Wayne Thiebaud.
First a glimpse and a bite…than you will know what I mean!
This American painter was born 1920 – and this not somewhere:) but in a Mormon family! in Mesa, Arizona, U.S.A. Waouh..not an evident start I guess to be liberated in your mind.
In his high school years although he was an apprentice at the Walt Disney Pictures walt Disney Studio – I guess that could be one hint to where his choice of children issues come from. And here another one as he further worked as a cartoonist and designer in California and NY.
So there you go – as you understood that it’s not all about cakes:)- but as well lipsticks, toys, boots or toilets. I do like his bubble gum/ vintage world of the 50′s & 60′s.
Moreover it was quite striking to me that the artist was a male person. It is more or less a child world in my eyes that Mister Thiebaud depicts, by using exaggerated colors and heavy pigments. Thiebaud is in general often put into association with Pop Art due to his object interest and his way of exposing them.
The more I am looking at his art, the more evident it got to me that even though his topics are really girlie style, there is this concrete painted line where we can guess that the artwork is done by a male person. Anyway- I enjoyed this visual journey and I hope you did too!
Last but not least: My favorite two of Wayne:)

WAOUH! and I so DO love this piece so much! One of my favorites. The pureness of every piece, the elegance, the dramatic side, it’s like a kind of yin/ yang, it’s just perfect in my eyes!
Motohiko Odani was born 1972 in Kyoto. He studied sculpture and fine Art at Tokyo University of the Arts, where he specialises in uniquely dynamic sculptural art. In 2003 he represented Japan at the Venice Biennale. Odani’s work is so multisided – going from C-prints to video installations, as well as sculptures and objects. It’s so 21th century!!:)
The materials he uses are mainly paraffin, steel and reinforced special plastic fibres, giving a filament-like quality to the work.
Between organic and a fluently flair…I have to admit that I prefer the pure white objects to those of the more organic and dark ones….but from the artistic point of view her ideas and diversity in the topics are magnificent and still there is a red line to find…
I can’t wait to see more of this Japanese artist in the future! Definitely someone who is worth to follow!
I love the beat:)
Thank you Vivre Paris, and special thanks to Julien & Raoul! I enjoyed the time with you guys!

Cabinet of Curiosities & Madeline von Foerster
June 18th, 2012 | Posted by in Ancient & Middle Age Art | Contemporary Art | Old & Modern Art - (Comments Off)As I strolled around on the net I stumbled over pictures of cabinet of curiosities from the Baroque times and over this painter: Madeline von Foerster
Cabinets of Curiosities, or so called “Wunderkammern” are originally an invention of the era of enlightenment and the Baroque, where wealthy lords and patricians created collections of a wide variety of objects displaying the multi-faceted “wonders” of God’s creations: like amulets, (strange:) artwork, all kind of exoticism, dead animals, unexplained objects, etc. Furthermore they were mostly fetishistically contained and displayed.
I like the magic in those cabinets as stories were often told about the miracle context, where they were found and what they represent. I agree, they always have a kind of dark and satancic side- but that’s probably what makes them so interesting:)
Foerster’s paintings seemed old school to me, from the technique and the subject point of view: I found a lot of elements from the Italian Renaissance – but one can see from the detail work, style and the color that Forester is a contemporary artist. So i went further to check her Art out. She has a corny side, but I like it and as I can be quite old school in Art as well, I just loved that somebody is taking notice. Furthermore when I went to her website I discovered that she is really painting with an old technique of oil and egg tempera, developed by the Flemish Renaissance Masters. Thanks for honoring the old and transferring it to the present!
There we go: a closer look to Madame Foerster:
the artist: (looks super nice!:)

Foerster was born in San Francisco and studied art in California, Germany and Austria. She currently resides in New York City. Moreover she was named as one of the “Top Contemporary Surrealists” by Art and Antiques magazine.
Upcoming next exhibition is in a couple of days:
Group show called “DEATH AND THE MAIDEN”: June 8 – July 4, 2012
@Roq La Rue Gallery, Seattle
Wishing you all a lovely day and if you have the time take a tour here:
