I dont know why but I felt like posting some great shots of animals that I found in a book of the famous 1947 Parisian founded Photo agency MAGNUM.
My favorite one by Inge Morath, who was part of the famous photo agency MAGNUM.

Stezaker’s work re-visits and examines various photographies and their imagery relationships: a documentation of truth, the purveyor of memory, symbols of modern culture.
His work consists of collages and Stezaker appropriates images, that he found in books, magazines, and postcards. He uses them as kind of ‘readymades’. Elegant transformations are set up and a new context was given with the artists point of view and artistic “signature”.

I love his deformed often, almost surrealistic results!

Asger Carlsen

January 3rd, 2013 | Posted by aroescheisen in Arty Curiosities | Photography Art | THINGS I LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU - (Comments Off)

BAMMMMM!!!

I assure you, this is a digital manipulation & I am really happy to say that! Because if not…it would have exploded my heart into pieces….
It’s simply BAMMM! Asger Carlsen’s photography is using analog, as well as digital. His photos are between “real” & “manipulated”.

1carlsen

It disturbs, it shocks, it makes you smile, it makes you cry, …
For me, Carlsen’s photos are very direct – nothing takes your eyes off of the one middle scene. No background, no decor, he is just showing you his artistic reality without any veil or excuses…It goes all directly to the point baby!
His photos have a huge impact on my emotions, I don’t know about yours?

In any case, I have to say: What a great work Asger….! Thanks!

My answer to the “end of the world”?
…is: renaissance & new beginning

…old schemes still break down & broke down…the force of construction & of authenticity of each of you is demanded… Love & compassion rules more than anytime else…don’t “construct” yourself of the outside world… seek inside of you for who you are & turn it on the outside to let your love & light shine for those who are still in the dark…

David Hamilton

December 4th, 2012 | Posted by aroescheisen in Contemporary Art | Photography Art | THINGS I LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU - (Comments Off)

David Hamilton – portrait by Patrick Chelli

In my eyes, even if you are a “novice” in Art – I am pretty sure you already stumbled over the work of David Hamilton:)
Born in London 1933 this British-born French photographer and occasional film director, is mostly known for his images of young women, and yes – mostly naked young woman…

Mainly, in photogrpahy it’s quite difficult to create recognition in the work. But Hamilton got it! In the most of his pics, there seems to be this sensible flair…, this innocence…, this purity…, a veil that embosoms the person depicted, a little corny side (in a positive way) as well, but that’s his style and that’s where a lot of charm is coming from….

I really love his work! there is this “alice in Wonderland” style…I don’t know why I have this association – but his work is like a romantic poem in my eyes.

Worth to see, worth to know & so worth to go! (if you have the chance to see his work)
I am happy to see his work in a few days in Paris at the Gallery Artcube.

After the FIAC at the Grand Palais will be the home for the Photo Art Fair: Paris Photo

Officially they doors will stand wide open from the 15th until the 18th of november 2012 @ the Grand Palais, Paris and from the 25th until the 28th of March 2013 in Los Angeles!
Vernissage time in Paris is 2morrow & I ll be very keen to discover everything:) Here two young photographers “run”, among others, to gain the Lauréat SFR award of the new, promising photo Talent.

Some of these words that came to my mind when I looked at the work of Stefanie Schneider….but it’s just subjective emotions!

Stefanie Schneider:
She was born 1968 in Cuxhaven, Germany.
In 1996 MFA at the Folkwang Schule in Essen, Germany and in 1994-95 she did an Erasmus Scholarship, at the Academy “Julien”, in Paris, France.
Stefanie Schneider lives and works in Los Angeles and Berlin.

So beautiful!

Schneider’s photography is out of a result of the use of expired Polaroid instant film. Her photos are enlarged manually, by hand, in her laboratory in Berlin. I think she has an outstanding technique and once can see that visual artifacts by applying for instance chemicals give her photo-work this special and unique touch! Preferably inspired by the American West and California, it’s not surprising that you feel like as if you were taken on a road movie in your summer vacations. She did a bunch of exhibitions and books, I won’t sum them up here, you can read that on her webpage:)

This road movie imagery is really close to Thelma & Louise. Ah ja – before I forget: Stefanie Schneider did the album cover for example: the one of the Red Hot Chili Peppers “Desecration Smile”

…as well as the Cyndi Lauper’s “Bring Ya to the Brink” album.

Damn it – I feel like going on a summer trip now. At least a glance of sunshine for your day as winter is approaching slowly.
Happy day from me to you*

And if you wish so, you can find more of her work here:

Get one of her books – I tell you it’s worth it! I love this one:

This Contemporary Photographer flashed my eye with this skull pic:

I have to admit that this whole skull topic is really bothering me in general. It was too much seen: In Fashion, in Art, in Skin Art:), in music, in Films, well shortly: I am OVERDOSEDDDDDD

BUT!! Wilmeth pic is really amazing. As well as her whole exhibition that was dedicated to skulls. And I know exactly what fascinated me & caught my attention. You see the skull and you never see eyes. The whole strength of the photo comes by posture and the object itself. Here 2 other examples:

So Holly Wilmeth was born in Guatemala. She is a freelance photographer, speaking English, German and Spanish. Living half time in the city and half time in the jungle, it seems that she found her inspiration and her photographical expression right in the middle: her photos combine in my eyes nature, the exotic, but still show a great technique and photographical eye as well as the urban hype and city flair.
She even lived in Japan, loves hiking, tribes and culture and traveled the world. Check out her story on her page! It’s exciting.
Some other pics that I found are really amazing! Happy that I stumbled over her and keen to know what will come in some years…her photos port the language of poetry and a big sensibility…

Check out her universe here:

SHADI GHADIRIAN

August 28th, 2012 | Posted by aroescheisen in Contemporary Art | Photography Art | THINGS I LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU - (Comments Off)

A glimpse to, SHADI GHADIRIAN, an Iranian young Contemporary Artist, that I admire a lot among others like Shirin Neshat, which is already interantionally known. (more about Shirin here: http://www.anninaroescheisen.com/art/contemporary-art/speechless-from-1996/ )

The photographies of the series “like every day” (year 2000) of Shadi GHADIRIAN are bringing it to the point: With a “simple” leitmotiv of veiled woman holding in front of them, objects of the daily life, she points out the challenges, that woman faces in their environment, their political and social situation today. Her photos are of a high intellectual, political and social content in my eyes & therefore just inspiring to me, and I guess to a whole lot of other people.
Art is power! Art has a voice…and she definitely brings her voice out …. I listen – do you?

Born 1974 in Therean, she still lives and works there.
Her most famous piece, called “Stereo”, was sold for £9,000 (over $18,000) in 2007 at Sotheby’s in London:

Some last glimpses to her work in general:

Nature in black & white

July 9th, 2012 | Posted by aroescheisen in Photography Art | THINGS I LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU - (Comments Off)

“Black and white landscape photography isn’t about the direct copy of nature. Instead, a black and white photograph contains a mystery, something enigmatic, which makes it more interesting. This is why I shoot in black and white.” (Michael Mironov)

by Mironov

Black and white nature evokes in me definitely another emotion than when I am looking at the beauty of the nature in colors. The colors are often so strong that they overwhelm us whereas when I take a look at the pictures of Mironov I see more essential things. I have the feeling I see deeper into the nature, as movements, edges, materials, surfaces become clearer and more important. Breathtaking!
What does it evoke in you?

It’s so pure and so beautiful. Back to the essential: to the roots.
Enjoy your day with the eyes for the beauty of the nature!

Mister Broach is really into the skate scene.

Between editorials for the Trasher magazine and pics of quite a bunch of known people. I fall in love, not with him:) but simply with some of his portraits: Eye-catching!

The strongest in my eyes and one of the best is this:

This one made me burst out in laughter!

I know he did a bunch of exhibitions like for the 30th anniversary of the Trasher magazine for example, but well his CV doesn’t talk to me: – Statement of the artist: “Coming someday” – yes your are so wright! Who cares? everything that counts is what you see NOW.

Take a walk here and enjoy your day:)
